Prayer for August 2010

Demerly Prayer Update for August 20, 2010

Furlough Travel – This summer has been one of travel for our family.  We began our journey in Fort Myers, FL.  From there, we traveled to Michigan, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Missouri, Iowa, and finally back to Pennsylvania.  Although our minivan was making some unusual noises, it never broke down.   All of this travel was for the purpose of ministry in our supporting churches.  It was a blessing to see many of you, give a ministry report from Slovakia, and to share testimony of God’s leading in our lives over the past few months.  Our theme for furlough came from Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”  We give praise to God for travel mercies and for the opportunities to be in our supporting churches.

Family – We also had many opportunities to be with family and relatives.  We enjoyed a week of vacation with 37 of Jodi’s relatives.  We spent a number of days with Jeff’s relatives in Michigan.  After traveling all summer, we finally arrived to our new home in Harrisburg, PA on August 10th.  Please pray for us as we get settled and ready for the start of a new school year.  Jenna and Jared will be attending Allen Middle School and Jaden will be attending Lower Allen Elementary.      

Orientation – One word that could describe our lives right now is orientation.  Jeff is going through a steep learning curve for his new ministry.  We are getting familiar with the Harrisburg area.  Our children had two school orientations this week.  Pray that we will keep our eyes on Him as we go through many changes.
   
Support – We continue to depend upon the Lord for all of our support needs.  God is faithful!  We are so thankful for our support team of churches and individuals.  Two supporting churches have made the decision to discontinue financial support.  We are thankful that they have expressed a desire to continue partnering with us in prayer.  Please pray that God will give us the prayer and financial support team that we need to do the work He’s called us to do.      

Day One – In the past, our ministry focus has been in Central and Eastern Europe, and specifically, Slovakia.  Now, our ministry focus will be missions worldwide.  World evangelism begins with mobilizing God’s people for missions.  ABWE has a mobilization department whose purpose is to do just that.  Jeff’s first day in his new ministry with ABWE consisted of an all-day meeting focused on how we can better mobilize God’s people for global missions.  Jesus said in Matthew 9, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few.  Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”  Please pray with us for more laborers.
