The Demerly’s seek to establish a national ministry to plant churches in Slovakia. Partnering with the Hayden family, their work includes discipleship and church planting as well as training future pastors from the local areas. Ephesians 6:18 encourages us to pray ". with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints." Dear Ones,
Thank you for praying for the English outreaches and camps throughout the summer. God answered our prayers and several hundred children, teens, and adults heard the good news of Jesus Christ. God was working in the hearts of many. Please continue to pray for ongoing ministry to these groups of people through follow-up programs and friendships that were developed.
We welcome Tysha Rore to Lucenec, Slovakia! She is our newest team member and will be serving with us for one year. Tysha will be meeting a huge need for our family by assisting Jodi with the educational needs of the children. She will also be significantly involved in evangelistic and discipleship ministries. She is an answer to prayer. Please continue to pray for her many adjustments to a new language and culture.
We have seen God bless in a number of ways in both the Vely Krtis and Cinobana church plants this summer. In Velky Krtis, the Lord is working in the hearts of a number of the youth and young adults. Several from the Saturday youth outreaches have come to the Sunday worship service. This is an encouageing sign. We are, however, concerned that the attendance of older adults has declined. Please pray that we will wisely respond and seek to have a ministry that will serve both young and old. In Cinobana, we are continually encuouraged by the evagelistic fervor of this group. The Lord has burdened their hearts for the lost, and they are eager to pray and reach out with the gospel. Please pray for their growth in wisdom, discernment, and maturity. The need for adult leadership both in Cinobana and in Velky Krtis remains a matter of prayer.
the second year of "Training on the Way" begins September 27-28. Along with a number of Slovak teachers, our ABWE team will be teaching twelve new classes in four regional locations all around Slovakia. In this way, local church based ministry and theological training will be offered to all of the Baptist churches in Slovakia. Jeff will be teaching a class entitled, "Methonds of Bible Study". Please pray that those who participated last year will continue this year, and that additional students will register as well. Praise the Lord for this opportunity.
Las spring, Pastor Thomas and Jeff taught a seven week course in inductive Bible study, specfically for our local church and one of its church plants. The plan was that this course will be foundational to a second course in sermon preparation. The course in sermon preparation will likely begin in October. The goal is to equip more men for preaching and teaching the Word of God. Jesus said to His disciples in Matthew 9, "the harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." This is still true today and we ask that you pray for more laborers among the Slovak Baptist churches.
School begins Sept. 2. Jaden will be starting his second year of Slovak preschool. Jenna and Jared will be home schooled this year. Jodi and Tysha will be teaching them. Jilynn turns 19 months old on Sept. 2. Please pray especially for Jodi. We anticipate a very challenging weekly schedule for her.
