The Demerly’s seek to establish a national ministry to plant churches in Slovakia. Partnering with the Hayden family, their work includes discipleship and church planting as well as training future pastors from the local areas. Ephesians 6:18 encourages us to pray ". with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints." As always, we want to thank you for your partnership in ministry.
Prayer Update for March 2010
"Continue earnestly in prayer … that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ." (Colossians 4:2-3)
As we begin the month of March, we are full-swing into furlough ministry. Furlough involves a number of responsibilities and opportunities. Some of them include the following:
1. Medical exams: Everyone in our family has been to the doctor for complete physicals, needed immunizations, blood work, and other not-so-fun tests. It appears that the kids and Jeff are in good health overall. Jodi’s health situation is more complicated and we are still working with our doctor to find answers. Please pray for wisdom.
2. Ministry in supporting churches: We have begun reporting to our supporting churches. Since this is not new to our family, we assumed that the kids understood what was going on when we went to our first church. Not a good assumption. Here’s a glimpse of our first church ministry. We were rushing to leave home on time, going over last minute preparations on the drive to church, and then getting our table set up. It didn’t even occur to us that Jaden had no idea what was happening. After we were all set up and waiting for church to start, he came to Jeff and said, “Dad, I just have one question. What are we doing here?!” It then dawned on us that he was only 3 years old the last time we were on furlough. Please pray that God will be glorified and churches will be encouraged as we give report of the ministry in Slovakia.
3. Ministry in our sending church: It has been a joy to reconnect with our sending church, Daniels Road Baptist Church in Fort Myers, FL. At the end of February, we were able to give a full report of the work in Slovakia, share testimonies in Sunday School, and preach in the morning service. We have also been spending a lot of time with people, catching up with long-time friends as well as making new friends. Pray that we will be a blessing to our sending church.
4. Support team building: God has given us a terrific support team of churches and individuals. Furlough is a time when we can give needed focus and attention to the ongoing work of building a support team. A huge part of the work is prayer. Please join with us in praying that God will lead us to churches and individuals whom He wants to be a part of our support team.
5. Time with friends and relatives: We have enjoyed the opportunities to spend time with our loved ones. Obviously, when we are in Slovakia, this is something we miss dearly. Praise the Lord for time with friends and relatives.
