December Happenings: As we kick off this decade, we are so thankful how the last decade ended. The last month of ministry was full of belssings. We began Dec. with a trip to the mall for our teens. This is the second time we have done this. Most of our teens live 30 minutes driving distance from the mall so it is not some place they go very often. We packed out two vans, and they enjoyed ice skating, exchanging gifts and seeing the lights and Christmas tree in Lisbon.
Dec. 20, was our annual Christmas dinner. Each of the SS classes took part in the presentation in some way. Our pastor’s wife organized a food drive for a need family in our church, and the outpouring of gifts was overwhelming. The family went home truly blessed by our small church showing the meaning of sacrifice. Our teen group wrote and performed a play where they dicovered the true meaning of Christmas. Although Chris helped organize and direct the practices, the majority of the work was done by our teens who wrote the play, made the props and even filmed a commercial.
We held an all-nighter with 2 churches, 30 teens 6 visitors, 100 pizza buns, 3 avenues of gospel presentation, and 1 Chris. What a success with gooey games, silly songs, and tired teens.
This is our 3rd Christmas in Portugal and we spent it with a family in church by having a large meal together and exchanging gifts at midnight. We are grateful for Skype which allows us to see our family and share a bit of the holidays with them. The grands enjoyed watching Josiah open his gifts.
Catrina’s ministry expands and her faithfulness does not skip a beat. Between taking care of the house and Josiah, she still maintains a strong and growing ministry sharing her love for Jesus Christ through her gift of teaching. English classes continue to be a great link to the community to build credibility and share our faith in word and deed.
Josiah is beginning to walk. Our 11 month old is making his way around the house in a hurry, occasionally letting go and moving his feet forward. He is a true blessing.
Serving together,
Chris and Catrina
