Goal: To serve God in Chile.

Dear Family & Friends,

God’s Word is powerful.  Proverbs 25:25 says, "As cold water to a weary soul, so is good news from a fra country."  This verse made us think of two things.  First, we have the cold water to share with weary Chileans.  We would like you to pray for three of our neighbors with whom we have had contact.  Please pray for Clara, Claudia and Carolina.  Two of them are stay-at-home moms which is very rare in Santiago.  Second, we have good news to share with you from a far country.  In the past three months we have had the privilege of seeing two people saved through the witness of local church members and two more families regularly attending services.  PTL!!

Culture Shock

We have had so many people ask us if we are experienceing culture shock that we decided to address the issue.  When spoken, those two simple words, Culture Shock, seem to instantly put fear in the eyes of everyone around.  It would be true to say that we have experienced some culture shock.  For example, tranmission repairs thake three weeks, grocery shopping takes two hours because so many labels need translation (Wal-Mart, where are you when we need you?), paying bills is no longer done easily online-now we stand in line, 7 pm really means 7ish, an invitiation for a meal is never  a casual, spur-of-the-moment event, driving without a "close call" is not driving at all, McDonalds is no longer a child’s favorite eatery because it just  doesn’t taste the same, no more naps on Sunday afternoon because church services begin at 10 am and finish at 1:30 p.m., directions from the pool guy to a supply store means that the store is "somewhere" in the city, and an attempt to steal your vehicle must be part of initiation rites of missionary life.  BUT we are safe and content doing God’s will

Please pray for John as he will be preaching in Spanish on Feb. 21.  He had practice doing this during our months of language school, but this is the real deal.

We thank you for your continued prayers and support.

Love the Niemeyer Family
