July 2010
Dear Praying Friends,
How I praise our Lord for His tender mercies and protection. As you continue to read this letter you will see why I have been once again reminded of His mercy and protection.
Camp weeks in June and July were a blessing and well attended. Pastor Valner from Igreja Batista Manancial in Fortaleze gave inspiring and challenging messages to the teens in the first week of camp. It was a bittersweet time as so many of the teens gave testimony to the great blessing our camp has been in their lives even since their attendance as children in the children’s camps. This was undoubtedly the last camp at our present location. More about that later.
Michelle Lippert from First Baptist Church in Memphis, NY brought the messages during the children’s week of camp. Ivana, of couse, translated for her. Marge McCormick from Marshall Bapt. in Winston Salem, NC helped with crafts and in so many other ways. It was a great time. However, Brazil lost to Holland in the World Cup that week which kind of put a damper on things!
We are still looking for the property the Lord has for us for our new camp. Pray for His direction.
After camp we packed the cars and headed home. As I turned onto our dirt road with my blinker on, a car at very high speed tired to pass me and crashed into us. The car is probably totaled and because of our Lord’s protection nobody was seriously injured. I needed two stitches in my head and the visiting pastor’s wife experienced pain because the jolt aggravated an already existing back problem. How we praise Him for His care. It is, indeed, a challenge to drive here in Brazil with all the bad roads and crazy dirvers!
Last Sunday night a young lady was saved here in Jacuma. However, she did not come back for the next service. She seemed very sincere in her decision. We will be visiting her to help her grow in the Lord. Do remember her in prayer.
A recent trip to Malta was a blessing. The church is growing, and Pastor Everton is doing a good work.
I sincerely thank you for your continued prayers and support.
In His service,
Jan Reiner
