“Happy Thanksgiving” from the Sextons! We trust that this letter finds you enjoying this delightful time of year when the seasons change and we eat delicious foods around the table with family and friends. As a family, we have been reminded once again of the many gifts and blessings we have to be thankful for.
On November 5th, Carl had a “freak” bicycle accident in which he broke his shoulder and collar bone. Due to the severity of the collar bone break he had surgery on Monday, November 12th, to put a plate in the collar bone. The Emergency room Doctor said that Carl could just as easily have broken his neck when he flew over the handle bars onto his head and shoulder in the middle of the street. We have seen God at work in our lives in many little ways during the past couple of weeks and are very thankful for His protection and mercy in our lives. The surgery was successful lasting 5 hours, and was quite complicated due to the collar bone having shattered. We do appreciate your prayers for a successful recovery from surgery and restored movement of the shoulder and arm. Patience is a key element while waiting for healing to take place. These experiences tend to make us re-evaluate our priorities. Carl has been awakened to things in his life which he prays for change with God’s help and for His glory. Lois, the boys, and our Hispanic congregation have been so loving and helpful. Romans 8:28 has taken on new meaning as we see it happening before our eyes. All things work together for GOOD, even though it may seem bad at the time!
Vida Nueva ministries continue to go forward. Recently, Carl has been in charge of the construction of an additional 1500 square feet to our current meeting facilities. The outside walls are now complete and dry wall installation has begun. We look forward to the day when this enlarged room will be filled with Hispanics worshiping the Lord.
September and October brought Carl an opportunity to speak in two supporting churches, as well as visit Pastors of supporting churches. Sharing with others, regarding the open doors of ministry here in South Florida, is always an encouragement for him.
December brings us the opportunity to invite unbelievers to the Christmas musical. Pray with us for a chance to share the gospel with those who attend and for lasting fruit.
Lois looks forward to January when she will begin a Bible study with the Ladies. We are also excited about Caleb’s recent acceptance at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he will start in January.
Thank you for continuing to be a part of our ministry through your prayers and support.
We would greatly appreciate your prayers regarding our need for additional monthly support. At this time, we are currently 29% under supported. Please contact us if God is leading you to help with a one-time gift or even a commitment to join our monthly support team.
Sincerely in Christ,
Carl, Lois, Caleb, Mark and Nicolas
