The Kintners have been growing a thriving ministry and church. Their youth activity attendance has increased by 25% and the attendance at Sunday school is on the rise.
Jan-Feb 2012
Dear Ones,
We see in 2012 that human nature is not different and at times we despair for the lack of spiritual growth, discernment and steadfastness.
Christmas and New Years came in like a flood-as soon as school was out, our people were taken by the worldly "current" and attendance plunged affecting all of the church activities and us emotionally. We worked hard to prepare a Christmas program for Dec. 18, and our people were not there to practice. We came close to cancelling, but through God’s enablement the program was realized with an attendance of 63. However, attendance averages then dipped more than other years. Christmas Sunday a.m. we had 6 including ourselves.
At this time Vanilda make a decision to move back to Autazes and her boys to Manaus in search of work and to further their studies. We prayed for God’s will, not ours. How we miss her! Remember, she was our only backup for Bible Club and other activities. This left our children’s class without a teacher. Grace took her class and the adolescents joined the adult class. Vanilda is still struggling with health needs but there is improvement and treatment continues in Autazes (Wes has moved to Autazes). The church cleaning fell back on Grace though we praise God that others have helped. Lourdes, very involved with cleaning and bringing several children to church, has spent time in Manaus helping family and now she is caring for an elderly couple in Sao Paulo as they both have had CVAs. Ozeias and Suzie (still not divorce in order to remarry) – he has moved to Manaus to reform his old house and set up his little fast food business and she is back in P. Fig. with her daughter (16) and her newborn (out of wedlock), and older son. In 2011 we lost Neder to Manaus and to the "world" involved in immoral lifestyles. During the holidays we almost lost a second adolescent who traveled to Manaus with her family – her parents and sister went into the bank, and she (13) and younger cousin stayed in the car. Shortly, a taxi drove up and she left. Only God!! A phone number the mother "happened" to get, led to a guy which the police brought to the jail (a first offender) who after being whipped, spoke, They were able to take their daughter home "unscathed" a MIRACLE! This scene is happening constantly around us.
We have some physical situations but Dave is so much better from his bursitis and Grace has gotten help form the same orthopedic doctor for arthrosis in the lumbar/sacral area.
Jr. camp was canceled as we had 1, due to only 11 campers signed up, and severe infections which Bob and Damaris Lankford experienced.
We were thrilled to know that Josias from our former work in Castanho has felt the call to prepare for full-time ministry and has enrolled in Bible School.
God sends us encouragement when we need it. Our colleagurs, Carruthers, furloughed in July 11 thru mid 12. How we miss them.
Our support level remains low still $600 below needed level.
In His service,
Dave and Grace Kintner
